Resolution

"You have no power over their will
They have to come to a realisation themselves

I often say it takes failure to learn
They haven’t ever failed hard enough so they have no realisation to have"
~ from a wise man

Much has happened since my first post on the issue of weak men, which can be found here. In short, an ever-widening rift exist between me and the people I treasure most due to their inability to grow and my interaction with high-functioning people outside of the friend group, people that have provided me with much needed vigour and a fresh new perspective on how to live life. Something happened recently that finally motivated me to take action.

The proverbial 'straw that broke the camel's back' is something stupid - competitive video games. In short, me and friends lost a string of close games, and upon my asking if losing pains them, the reply was "C'mon, we're just having fun, we have jobs and we just want to chill". This single comment drove me mad with anger, not because of the result, but because of the sheer ignorance, the sheer lack of will to improve. It makes me even angrier when these people that have played the game on the order of thousands of hours are still making basic mistakes, and upon being confronted becomes extremely defensive.

This is just one aspect of their behaviour that highlights the difference in mentality between my high-functioning acquaintances and the weak-minded friend group. Another example: the UK's DUAA data-use laws that permit governments total access to personal information, including back transaction informations, private messages and private social media posts, are to be rolled out in 2029. The consequence of this law is, the UK government can now actively harm people that has opinions that oppose or differ from the state. This law is worrying to say the least, but my weak-minded friend group seems to not care, instead choosing to focus on pixelated teenage characters and trivial, copy-pasted heroic sagas.

I understand now that being "tryhard" or "competitive" is not a weakness. Wanting to excel at something and trying your absolute hardest is not "cringe". Shouting at another teammate for their mistakes doesn't mean I am personally insulting your character, it's just feedback, perhaps angry feedback in the moment, of which one can totally reciprocate. Being worried and paranoid about the soon-to-be surveillance state of the West is not "edgy" or "extra".

The resolution to this personal conflict is simple, but painful: grow or be left behind!

So begins my lonely journey to the peak once again, lest the collective ignorance and apathy of my peers shackle me to mediocrity forever.
